Light of Day: How it happened

I met Hal Ketchum in 1987. We played some in the front room/bar area at Gruene Hall, I knew then that I had never heard anything like him. It wasn’t until 2003 that I got a call to fly out to Las Vegas and play with my old friend. The rest as they say is history. He stopped playing in 2009 for health and many reasons. I think it was Sarah who initially called in 2011 and said “Dad wants to play but only wants you to play”. I said sure...
We played a few things but his mind was so active! He was throwing out all of these ideas, stories, poems, wanted me to help write some music and put them together. I did, we did. We recorded these songs in 2013 but thought that all was washed away in the 2015 Wimberley floods. I connected with Chuck Pennington earlier this year and realized that although the recording studio had washed away the hard drives were spared!! Oh my… the original tracks were there! I put some bass tracks on the tunes and here it is. Hal Ketchum and myself. The recordings that we thought were lost will finally see the Light of Day!! I hope you enjoy this as much as we did recording it!  Peace! KG
